Cork, Bandon and South Coast Railway
Ballydehob Bay which opens into Roaringwater Bay. View location
An extension line from Skibbereen from the main line that went from there to Bantry.
There are two plaques on a pillar of the viaduct stating: a) West Carbery Tramway and Light Railway 1886 - 1947 The first scheduled train crossed over this bridge on Tuesday 7th September 1886. The final train ran on Saturday 25th January 1947.
b) THIS PLAQUE COMMEMORATES THE 1OOth ANNIVERSARY OF THE BUILDING OF THE TWELVE ARCH BRIDGE. BALLYDEHOB FOR THE SCHULL - SKIBBEREEN TRAMWAY AND LIGHT RAILWAY UNVEILED BY MR. VIVIAN O' CALLAGHAN 26th OCTOBER 1986 |
